Patterning your life around other's opinions is nothing more than slavery.

People tell me all the time that I think outside of the box. But today I'm here to tell you that I do not think outside of the box. Because in order for one to think outside of the box one must be in a box and I am in no way in a box by any means. Sky's the limit for me. Last week on the show we talked about a situation in Africa that is barely being reported in the states. Smugglers taking illegal migrants from Somalia to Yemen forced hundreds of Africans overboard into shark infested waters in an effort to make a fast getaway from security forces. Thirty-one bodies have been found and nearly 90 people remained missing. Passengers who resisted the smugglers were stabbed or beaten with wooden and steel clubs, then thrown into the water where some were attacked by sharks. When I read this story it reminded me of what it must have been like to be a slave coming over from Africa.

Sunday I say down and took some much needed me time. My daughter called me 15 times that morning asking me if I was done watching my movie, I told her no and explained to her what it was about and that I would call her and tell her exactly what it was about. The movie I watched was Blood Diamonds. After the movie I turned on VH1 Soul to give my mind a break from the images of cut off arms, death and destruction of the souls of young African children. But to my surprise they just happen to be airing a documentary on Blood Diamonds and the effect Hip Hop has on the trade of conflict diamonds. So after I watched all of this I had to call my daughter back as promised and tell her exactly what the movie was about. So I called and her voice is ever so happy to hear me through the phone since we don't see each other again until the summer time. So I explain to her what the movie was about, she cuts me off to ask me about the diamonds, and if they had blood on them, and I explain to her how the actually mined the diamonds, She's in awe but she got it for the most part. She asked if they were sharp and if that was causing the blood. Again I explained to her why they were called blood diamonds and she lets out a giant OO0o0o0ohhhh and proceed to run back the movie for me in extreme detail. The pride of being a father of a beautiful and an extremely intelligent little girl.

You see last summer HBO ran the slave narratives, and during one daddy daughter day we sat and watched it, i explained to her everything that was going on and she didn't really understand why black people were treated so badly so i explained it to her. I did this so she would not have hate in her body, and so she can understand the importance of carrying herself w/ the utmost respect. So now whenever she sees me watching a documentary she said hey is this about how they used to treat black people? I just laugh and explain to her what it is whatever I'm watching is about. My daughter is going to be a great person when she gets older. I'm extremely proud. I know children progress at different rates b/c when she was one she was talking w/ the best of them, in reference to another female who i was dealing w/ daughter who is one and a half and can't talk to save her life. Okay maybe that was wrong but I realized how blessed I was to have an intelligent baby mother, and an child genius for a daughter.

But its moments like this, stuff like refugees trying to escape a war riddled land being thrown into the shark infested waters that make you realize how stupid some of the stuff we do here in the states truly is. Now if you read the complete blog you can see how relevant the quote at the top of the blog really is, we have to think for ourselves and not care about what anyone else thinks of our thoughts or our actions. We are all bound to make mistakes, and regret some of the things we have done in our life. But regardless of any of that we only have our own individual God to answer to, our own God to please. And if you can find one solemn moment to make peace w/ him... Then who cares what anyone else thinks of you?

Please be sure to listen to the show tomorrow night it will be fill of laughs and controversy and the best Internet radio show on the world wide web will be exactly that... The best.
