Freedom is a fragile thing and is never more than one generation away from extinction. It is not ours by inheritance; it must be fought for and defended constantly by each generation, for it comes only once to a people. Those who have known freedom, and then lost it, have never known it again.
Ronald Reagan

All this week TV One is airing Roots. Wait let me back up, Friday while driving home I was listening to my sports radio show and I heard that Imus called the Rutgers Basketball team Nappy Headed Hoes. The next day Mike Brown the Remix posted a story on it. So I told myself I wouldn't write about it, and that next day nothing, Sunday nothing... So I let it go, dismissed it even though it made my blood boil being from New Jersey being that I once stalked those same so called Nappy Headed Hoes of Rutgers University. And now today I see 50 million blogs about it. Which is good but where the hell were y'all on Friday and Saturday? Why is it that we preach and preach about unity when most of us are unaware of the bullshit that takes place. Now the Statement of this radio DJ didn't shock me b/c he says shit like this all the time. But once in a blue something will catch the national media ear. My thing is that only after a chat w/ the so called black Savior Rev Al Sharpton does anyone give a damn. First off Al Sharpton is not the damn savior of Black Folks. So what happened they give him 2 weeks off w/ pay, so basically he gets a vacation. Great he's be in Aruba and you'll forget it about it. A 2 week suspension is not long enough.

I won't go into my views on the whole nappy head thing b/c Ish Taymah and myself will touch on it during the show this week.(Airs Wednesday @ 8pm But back to the topic at hand. There was a point when BET was positive, when video's were classy, you could watch Donnie Simpson in his fly sweater or Madeline Woods had the goods playing all the grown and sexy videos and after you got some soul you got BET Nightly News w/ a little bit of sports rap w/ some guy whose face you never seen. it was great. But those days are long gone and any self respecting Black person will tell you nowadays BET represents all that is wrong w/ the black race. But why the change well simply black people don't support positivity. It's evident in my blogs if i was to post something positive it would get half of the hits i got if i blogged about the drama or something sexual. We feed off beefs, guns and half nekkid woman being degraded in music videos. And the positive blacks are sleep getting ready for work the next morning or making move for their next big multi BILLION dollar deal IE Kwame Jackson of Apprentice fame.

But cheer up folks there is an alternative and it's called TV One a rival black television network. It's shows are classy and about something and although you can tell that the money for production isn't all there the shows are chicken soup for the soul. All This week they are airing Roots. Last night they played the episode of Kunta Kinte being whipped to call himself TOBY and it's the same thing that's going on today. In that scene black slaves who were unaware of their roots looked on as this man refused to call himself TOBY got beat into submission. And I say we have beat our self into that same submission. Instead of being on top of things we sat back and waited for the mainstream media to inform us of what was going on. Oh it's not official until Al Sharpton in involved. Its submission, its bowing down and letting them take away our freedom to think for ourselves. We take our freedom for granted, blacks and whites alike we don't believe that the Freedom that makes America great can be taken away from us if we give up our voice. SPEAK, Stand up, don't think b/c you can only tell a few people that it's not important to find information before other's. Don't think that b/c ABC didn't report it that its not worth telling every one you can. Don't think b/c your not out in the street throwing garbage cans through windows that you can't start the revolution. You may not be the leader but you just may be the voice that will spark the man who'll lead us to the promise land. So when they talk about people crying for change and doing nothing about it, know that speaking is the first step to anything you do.

Maybe one day we can put aside our differences, and work together. If you have kids call your local cable company and tell them to get TV One. Tell your friends that there is a place on the Internet where people can come together and speak their mind and learn from one another and it's called BLOGXILLA. Tell them that there is a show that teaches and entertains at the same time, and it Airs Wednesday Nights at 8pm called FWNBTD Radio! SMCH
