TILA TEQUILA: ANTI-CHRIST OF THE WEEK

On American Culture

Celebrities & Rockstars, iPods, reality TV, Hummers, Blah, Blah, Blah..and oh yeah...Tila Tequila.

I simply couldnt resist any longer. Tila Tequila is the single most popular chic on MySpace and that is her sole claim to fame. Sure she has has a record deal (but have you listened to her song?), and does something related to fashion, but has no real talent or purpose. Her MySpace celebrity status has recently landed her appearances on the cover of Stuff magazine, in the Maxim Hot 100, and in an exclusive live interview on MSNBC. The Stuff article was titled "Tila Tequila: 25 million people can't be wrong." Actually, in the 2004 presidential elections, George Bush got over 62 million votes. So, indeed, more than 25 million people can be wrong.

Typically Tragic

It wasnt always so easy for Tila growing up. Tila Nguyen, of Vietnamese descent, was born in Singapore where her family emigrated after the Vietnam War. They later moved to Houston and lived in a run down house before being admitted to a Buddhist temple. The story now becomes super typical.she became the Bad Girl, was sent to boarding school, joined a couple gangs, drugs, etc., etc. Why do I have no sympathy you ask? Because it happens to a lot of people all the time (ghettos, the drug war, prison, AIDS), and they dont make the cover of magazines.

The Ultimate Truth

I found this on an I HATE TILA website: Girls bond with Tila because she makes them feel less guilty about being sluts. Guys like her because well she's a slut. Simple, yet incredibly profound. So yes Tila, I do believe that you want to fuck my manand probably already have.In ConclusionThis is not another I HATE TILA blog. I aint mad at her for doing her thing. But at some point we have to decide whats appropriate. Do we have any values at all anymore? What is American culture if its not related to money, sex, and fame? So please lets put our clothes back on and carry ourselves as daughters, as mothers, and most importantly, as respectable women.

  • I totally agree with your post. I'd never even heard of a tila tequilla until myspace. From the celebrity status she's gotten on myspace, I thought she might have been an actress, a singer that actually had talent, or someone with some form of given talent.

I'll give props where they are due & I honestly couldn't even find anything appealing about her other than she's a cute girl. I've heard a few of her tracks...oh boy...I can't believe what they classify as music anymore. She can't sing at all. Granted sex sells, based on her lack of talent she has to be doing someone to have gotten where she's at, because I just don't see it or hear it based on the ability she's shown.

  • You know I'm not too proud to pitch my books anywhere, and this is a good example.

If you make enough noise someone is either going to pour oil all over you or replace your hinges, girl. Read my stuff because I think in an abstract way we're not that far apart.

You do need an editor though, and I do that for $3.00 a page...
