I Thought We Won That Fight

I pulled this story off the website for the Shreveport Times. The story was about a white bus Driver forcing 9 black students to sit in the back of the bus, the last row of seats on each other's laps to be exact. This made me very uncomfortable, why is this still happening in America? Didn't we learn from 50 years ago but we are so busy in the clubs that we don't and aren't making any noise about it. We were slaves before and just like the Arabs are being profiled the same thing can happen to us.. when will we stand up and not take this any more. When will a leader show up and lead us back to where we were heading when martin and Malcolm was alive? Turn BET off, Turn off Flavor of Love and all this other mess keeping us down. The Article touch on a few things
  1. a white Red River school bus driver who allegedly directed nine black students to the back of her bus. In addition to addressing the allegations aimed at bus driver Delores Davis, the statement states that training will be held next week for all of the parish's bus drivers.
  2. Then the nine children were assigned the last two seats at the rear of the bus, causing the older kids to hold the younger ones in their laps.
  3. According to Easley: "We have met personally with the parents of the involved students, and we are satisfied that they realize that the actions of the bus driver do not represent the beliefs of the Red River Parish School Board, its administration or its employees. At the same time, we wish to again assure the students and the public in general that prompt remedial action has been taken against the employee relative to this matter. The specifics of that action cannot be disclosed as a result of Louisiana laws mandating confidentiality of personnel actions.

Now first off, Training why has it come that these drivers need training on how not to be a racist pig? America needs to realize that training is not the key it's a whole revamping of the system. Close your eyes and imagine something you probably never thought you would see again little black children in the back of the bus forced to sit on each other's laps while white children refuse to give up their seats of even move over so one of these kids could sit down. Now imagine what it would feel like to have to go to school all day dealing w being mistreated. Is that's the country that's trying to fix the world?

Some of the comment on this issue have been even more mind boggling than the story alone one man wrote this about James Panell the VP of the NAACP:

the allegations that 9 black children had to sit on 2 seats while white children
had seats to themselves is an outright LIE. As has been stated before, these
children were the last to get on the bus, so had to take whatever seats were
left. Whether you like it or not, riding on a school bus is a "PRIVILEGE", not a
RIGHT. I suspect you are part of James Panell's cronies who just want to stir up
trouble. Stay out of Louisiana business.
So much hate for a man who called for an investigation I guess he doesn't want the world to know that he's a racist...
One man Replied to that comment stated:

it should be made aware that the ULTIMATE problem seems to exists within
the structure of the local school system, from the Superintendent and on down
the ladder... But then again, you are probably in that small percentile of
people that still say that "Bush is doing a terrific job".

I could go on but i don't want to stir up hate but i do want to Stir up
discussion on a Matter that is dear to my heart being a black man in America so
talk w/ me.
